La Petite Colombe

Welcome to Franschhoek’s ultimate fine dining experience!

I was lucky enough to experience this incredible restaurant late last year. I had previously dined at the award-winning sister restaurant, (La Colombe in Constantia, Cape Town) so, when the opportunity arose, I was very keen to try this newer addition to their family.

How spoilt were we?! John Norris is the executive chef here. His passion is evident in every single dish that was brought to the table. His attention to detail and flavour combinations are something to write home about. Specific dietary requirements are no problem for the team either, and they catered for us according to our dietary needs. The in-house sommelier ensures that your meals are paired with the best possible wines, (for which a tasting menu is available). They have several menus from which to choose, as well as seasonal specials. Open for lunch and dinner, this is one of our top picks for a fine dining experience in the winelands.

We settled on a 4-course menu, with a palate cleanser in between. The cleanser was a mojito floured sorbet brought to the table on ice, cleverly styled to look like delectable fruit slices. I enjoyed courses consisting of quail eggs and pea puree, Chalmar beef fillet, and sea bass. I ended my meal with a delectable desert with flavours of mango, pineapple, macadamia and passionfruit. When they presented the bill, we were treated to some handmade delights—white chocolate and popping candy! Needless to say we left slightly heavier than we arrived!!

While you are in Cape Town, whether you are staying in the winelands or not, I highly recommend a visit to La Petite Colombe, for a memorable culinary experience.
